Cooking Around the World, ages 10 & up, 2:15 - 3:15pm

Explore foods from around the world! Each class, we’ll make a main dish and either a beverage or dessert from one of these countries: Italy, Mexico, Australia, Jamaica, Norway, and China. Students will gain skills to help in the kitchen as they practice following recipes, kitchen safety, cleaning, cutting, mixing, blending, assembly, baking, stove top cooking, presentation, and more. We’ll even think about how to tell when you’re full, and more. They will bring home recipes & activities that will allow them to build on their new skills at home. Research shows that kids who spend more time in the kitchen choose a wider range of foods and turn towards healthier choices. The first of a two-part series, the second session of this workshop will be in the spring. Taught by Katherine Bates.
